About the
Waiting Child Program
Families who meet China's new adoption
guidelines and who are interested in providing
a special home for a waiting child are welcome
to contact us for more information.
Alliance for Children asks families who are
sincerely considering special needs adoption
and who are interested in a specific child to
complete and submit via email a Family Information
Sheet (download form at top right) to Lin Jing
at ljing@allforchildren.org
.
Our Waiting Children Program Committee will
review families’ information and will
keep a list if more than one family is interested.
Based on the ability to meet CCAA’s requirements
and the needs of the child, the committee will
select a family for placement of this child.
The selected family is then emailed the complete
scanned file of this child (including all lab
work, medical report, photos, and translation)
to review.
After the family receives the child's file,
they then have TEN DAYS to review the child's
records and come to a decision. We allow this
timeframe so that, if the family deems necessary,
they can have the child's information reviewed
by a physician that specializes in international
adoption.
If the family decides to move forward with
the adoption, we will FedEx the child’s
original file, along with the Letter of Intent
and guidelines to fill out the Letter of Intent,
to this family. Other families that submitted
a Family Information Sheet for the child will
be informed, via email, that the child has been
placed. The child's information is then removed
from our online waiting children list.
If the family decides not to pursue this adoption,
applications will again be reviewed until a
successful placement has been made.
The family who decides to adopt the child will
need to fill out the Letter of Intent and return
it to us. The family also needs to work on a
dossier. The process of preparing a dossier
is the same as that of a dossier for a non-special
needs child. We will assist you in preparing
your dossier. If your dossier has already been
logged in at CCAA, you will need to obtain a
copy of Home Study Addendum, specific to the
child you have accepted, from your home study
agency.
One final note: since all applications are
reviewed in accordance with CCAA guidelines,
we will not approve any family if we feel they
may be declined by the CCAA. However, the final
decision for the placement of a child is determined
by the CCAA instead of Alliance for Children.
We thank you for your interest in our Waiting
Children Program! If you would like to receive
more information on this program, please contact
Lin Jing at ljing@allforchildren.org
or (781) 444-7148.
Sincerely,
Waiting Children Program
